I enjoy working on a series of paintings. Exploring the different ways to look at the same or similar viewpoint. Doing a series of painting of the same location. This painting is from the Santa Cruz Wave Series. The vertical composition is a departure from most traditional landscapes.

Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
