Artist's Description

Davenport is a California Central Coast town between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. This is the view from the rail road tracks. I stood beside the tracks and started this plein air. When the ocean wind picked up so did I. Finished it in my studio.

About PJ Kirk

PJ Kirk

Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
