This 24 x 30" oil painting on canvas was based on a photo I took of a friend while liking to Bear Creek Falls in Telluride, Colorado. The nearly naked aspen trees lend themselves to rendering with the palette knife.

Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
