Paying tribute to Diana for raising AIDES awareness. I had a vision of Diana sitting in a field of poppies. She has her back to a distant Balmoral Castle, where her and Charles spent their honeymoon. She sits on the earth among the poppies, a symbolize her humility and many adoring fans.
Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
