This was painted on a magical day spent with a Plein Aire painting group. We met at the banks of the Russian River just east of Guernville, CA. We were blessed with wonderful weather. Birds, dragonflies and flowers galore!

Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
