Harbor scene in Moss Landing, California. Moss Landing is betweenSanta Cruz and Monterey on Highway 1. I started this painting on site. I finished it in the studio trying to retain the freshness of the original Plein Aire study.

About PJ Kirk
Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
