Santa Cruz Wharf is my favorite place to sit and watch the sun go down. Took this shot of West Cliff Drive while slurping steamed muscles and rose'. It's painted on a canvas board. I like small canvas board painting in the plein air style frame. However, you can display it in most any 5x7" open back frame.
Whether painting a person or a teapot, the goal is holding the viewer's attention. In this busy world it takes something remarkable to stop us in our tracks. That could be an event, like a surprising diagnosis or the unexpected death of a close friend. These events give us time to pause and reflect. A common vehicle into my psyche is music. This led me to start painting singer-songwriters whose music has impacted me. Look into their eyes. For a moment time stops. Music and memories take over.
